“Showdown” is the documentary movie starring 5 elite distance runners – Abdi Abdirahman, Alan Culpepper, Meb Keflezighi, Dathan Ritzenhein, and Jorge Torres – who together have won an Olympic medal, numerous Olympic team berths, and a wide variety of races at all levels. Viewers go behind the scenes in the runners’ quest for the 2007 US Cross-Country Championship in Boulder, Colorado, but more broadly in their pursuit of world-class performances in the UK and Scotland. Running 72 minutes long, and including just under 6 minutes of extras, the movie includes footage of the athletes training, racing, and resting. The audience learns much about the sport of running and what it takes to excel at it: the physical, mental, and emotional components of success.
The movie was shot with a cinematic “look and feel”, at 24 frames per second in high definition. With footage shot on location across the United States – including running meccas like Boulder, Colorado, and Eugene, Oregon, as well as Houston, Texas; San Diego, California; and Tucson, Arizona – “Showdown” gives viewers a taste of life at the highest levels of a grueling but beautiful and noble sport.
“What It Takes” is the hit documentary about 4 elite Ironman triathletes. Made by the same production team behind “Showdown”, it debuted in October 2006 and has garnered rave reviews. To learn more, see here.
